ABOUT
Actors singing actresses’ showstoppers, young women filling old men’s roles and seniors playing ingénues. You don't want to miss your chance to be part of this evening of madcap musical magic. Join us for a hilarious mix-up of performers singing songs from roles in which they would NEVER be cast.

MISCAST CABARET will be performed, one night only, at King Avenue UMC on Saturday, May 11.

AUDITIONS
Sunday, March 24 at 6:30pm
Monday, March 25 at 6:30pm
at King Avenue UMC

Individuals and groups are encouraged to audition. Those auditioning will be asked to perform the song they would like to sing in the MISCAST CABARET. Songs should be from any Broadway musical. An accompanist will be provided.

Those cast in the MISCAST CABARET may be asked to learn and participate in a group number. They may also be asked to learn individual solos and/or duets. While music will be reviewed in rehearsal, participants are responsible for learning their own music.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will be 6:30-9pm (unless otherwise noted) at King Ave UMC on the following days:
Monday, April 15 – Group number(s)
Tuesday, April 16 – Group numbers(s)
Monday, April 22 – Group number(s) for half of rehearsal
Tuesday, April 23 – Group number(s) for half of rehearsal
Sunday, April 28 – HOLD (if add’l rehearsal is needed)
Monday, April 29
Tuesday, April 30
Monday, May 6 – in sanctuary
Friday, May 10 – Dress rehearsal, time TBD

It is likely that participants won't have to be at every rehearsal for the entire time. After auditions a detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed.


This is non-equity and unpaid.

MISCAST CABARET will be directed by Lisa Minken and Barb Shoulders. The show will be choreographed by Lauren Heberling. For any questions about auditions, please contact Lisa Minken at lisaminken@gmail.com.

This staged reading is in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard, the young man who, in October 1998, was savagely beaten and left to die in Laramie, Wyoming.

THE LARAMIE PROJECT is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.

This show is not suitable for young audiences as it contains strong adult language, adult situations, and adult subject matter including descriptions of violence in a brutal hate crime.

THE MUSIC MAN
The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.

King Avenue Players is presenting a Staged Reading of The Laramie Project by Moisѐs Kaufman, on Friday, October 12, 2018. This reading is in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard, the young man who, in October 1998, was savagely beaten and left to die in Laramie, Wyoming.

THE LARAMIE PROJECT is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.

The cast will consist of four men and four women each portraying up to ten separate characters.

Rehearsals will be on Thursdays beginning September 6th from 6:30 to 9 PM.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script.

Please bring a calendar and any conflicts with you to auditions. A headshot or picture with resume would welcome.Rehearsals are planned for Thursday evenings, starting September 6, 2018.
