Forever Plaid - March 26-28, 2015

Forever Plaid is one of the most popular and successful musicals in recent memory. This deliciously fun revue is chock-full of classic barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies!

Once upon a time, there were four guys (Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie) who discovered they shared a love for music, and then got together to become their idols - The Four Freshman, The Hi-Lo's and The Crew Cuts. Rehearsing in the basement of Smudge's family's plumbing supply company they became "Forever Plaid". On the way to their first big gig, the "Plaids" tare slammed broadside by a school bus and killed instantly. It is at the moment when their careers and lives end, that the story of Forever Plaid begins....

Singing in close harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations, and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with over-zealous precision, the "Plaids" are a guaranteed smash, with a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keeps audiences rolling in the aisles when they're not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950's.

King Avenue Players will present the hit musical Forever Plaid on March 26, 27 & 28.

Showtimes are nightly at 7:30pm, with an additional 3:00pm matinee on Saturday, March 28.

Admission is free, but a free-will offering is graciously accepted.

The show is appropriate for all age groups.  Childcare will be available at the Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon performances.

Forever Plaid is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

First produced in London in 1989, this comic play from author Martin Downing tells the tale of Baron Victor Von Frankenstein who, bored with his attempts to give life to the lifeless, has turned his attention to curing the supposedly incurable! In a grim castle in the Carpathian Mountains he and his long suffering wife Elisabeth, the unsavory hunchback Ygor, the Valkyrian Frau Lurker and the Monster play host to various mysterious and menacing denizens of the night (invited or otherwise) who visit the Baron to beg him to rid them of their vices. But this challenge, although a welcome diversion for the headstrong young scientist, proves to be no picnic ... more of a living nightmare! A highly entertaining wise cracking comedy horror!
